 Engineered stone or Quartz countertops are fantastic. They are a brilliant balance of looking awesome but also being easy to look after and practical. It has a long life, is durable and because of its non-porous nature, it does not stain easily. It also means it does not need regular re-sealing. You can choose from a wide range of appearances, patterns and colors and you can even get it to look like other popular choices like marble or granite. Here are some short-term and long-term tips on caring for this material

 

Short-term cleaning tips

 

●     React quickly to spills - Even though it is non-porous, if you keep ignoring spills, they can build up and affect its surface. Certain things like wine or coffee can leave something behind if not cleaned quickly, especially with lighter quartz surfaces. So blot spills with a soft cloth or paper towel. Then wipe or clean.

●     Clean each day - Just use a soft sponge or cloth with some gentle soap and warm water. Wipe the surface down and you can stop bacteria and grime from building up on your engineered stone Howell. Remember grime and particles can cause damage over time.

●     Use divots and chopping boards - Divots are for placing hot pots onto. While this countertop does have some heat resistance it is still a good idea not to put a pan directly from the stove or oven onto the surface. It is also a good idea to chop onto a chopping board rather than directly onto the countertop.

●     Some chemicals are abrasive so avoid - Some cleaners have strong abrasive chemicals in them and are not good for certain surfaces. If you need something to deal with a stain, use water and baking soda, make a paste and gently apply it to the area then rinse.

●     Understand the difference between easy maintenance and neglect - Just because it has some resistance and does not need sealing does not mean it needs no care. Engineered stone Howell being ignored can lead to grime build-up and damage and dullness over time.

●     Occasional deep cleaning and polishing - To keep it looking pristine and as close to new as possible you can clear everything off and do a more focussed clean. Still only use gentle soap, soft cloths and baking soda for anything tougher. It does not need official polishing like some other materials but there is a polish specifically for quartz that helps keep it shiny and adds a level of protection. It is something you can easily do, not anything that needs a professional treatment.
